Let me tell you who I am before I tell you what I think. I hold the Guinness World Record as the world’s most syndicated puzzle compiler — a title I have held continuously since 2000. My puzzles and brain games reach 180 million solvers across 80+ countries on six continents, syndicated through more than 800 print and digital outlets. I have been profiled in People Magazine, documented by The HistoryMakers alongside John Lewis and Oprah Winfrey, and I spent 30 years building a career in international media where the only thing that mattered was whether you were right.

I did not inherit any of this. I built it — one verifiable publication, one broadcast, one corporate contract at a time. That same obsessive standard — primary sources, verification, the difference between what sounds true and what is true — is the engine behind every article on Black Intervention.

The Guinness Record

Guinness World Records designated me the world’s most syndicated puzzle compiler in 2000 — a title I have held for more than 25 consecutive years. The organization gave me the official designation “Guinness World Records Puzzle Master” — the only person in history to receive this specific title. No one before me held it. No one since has taken it.

The numbers behind the record: more than 20,000 crossword puzzles created, over 1.5 million original brain clues written, and 17 brain game franchises founded from scratch. My content syndicates through CBS News, MSNBC, the Boston Globe, Yahoo, the Toronto Star, the Miami Herald, the New York Daily News, the New York Post, Le Monde in France, and the South China Times — among hundreds of other outlets.

Media & Television

I spent 13 years as the crossword editor of USA Today, America’s largest-circulation newspaper. I was only the second editor in that newspaper’s history to hold the position, following the legendary Charles Preston. Before that, I founded the Universal Crossword in 1997 and ran it for 21 years — building it into one of the most widely syndicated puzzle features in the world.

In 2001, I became the first crossword editor in Reader’s Digest’s 100-year history. I remain the only editor to simultaneously run two nationally syndicated crosswords.

When Merv Griffin — the entertainment legend who created Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune — launched his final television series, Merv Griffin’s Crosswords, he hand-picked me to write every episode. I wrote all 225 episodes — 17,100 clues and answers, single-handedly. Griffin called me “America’s best puzzle master by far.”

I have appeared on CNN, the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS, the Tom Joyner Morning Show (reaching 8 million listeners), The View, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, and dozens of other national programs. CNN described my creations as “smart games for smart people.”

I founded Advanced Learning Academy LLC to bring the same rigor I applied to media to the science of human intelligence. The platform houses 10 scientifically designed cognitive assessment systems:

Why I Built Black Intervention

I built this site because the same rigor I applied to puzzles and media was missing from the most important conversation in Black America.

Most commentary about Black America falls into one of two categories: ideology pretending to be analysis, or outrage pretending to be journalism. Neither produces solutions. Neither cites its sources. Neither tells you where the money goes.

I spent thirty years in media where the standard was simple: be right, show your work, and let the reader decide. That is what this site does. Every article cites the CDC, the FBI, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, peer-reviewed journals, and federal register data. If the numbers change, I change with them. That is what separates an intervention from a sermon.

Every article ends with solutions — not wishes, not slogans, but real programs producing measured outcomes in real communities right now. Being the Guinness World Records Puzzle Master, with three decades of worldwide puzzles and solutions, I offer potential solutions to some of the most perplexing problems in Black history.
